    ALTERNATIVE FIRING: RAKU

The removal of pieces from the kiln while still glowing hot. In the traditional Japanese firing process, the fired Raku piece is removed from the hot kiln and put directly into water or allowed to cool in the open air. Raku techniques have been adopted and modified by contemporary potters worldwide.

IMPORTANT:  All who participate in this Master Class will need to bring a bisque fired project to raku fire.

RADIAL RELIEF PAINTING: HANDS-ON LINOCUT PAINTING

Dive into the art of relief printing and explore the mesmerizing symmetry of radial patterns in this interactive, hands-on workshop! Designed for beginners and experienced artists alike, this session will guide you through the basics of relief printmaking while introducing you to the dynamic possibilities of radial design.

    Participants will:

    * Learn the fundamentals of relief printing, including carving techniques, inking, and printing.

    * Explore the concept of radial symmetry and how it can create visually striking, balanced designs.

    * Carve their own linoleum block to produce a personalized radial pattern.

By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with your carved linoleum block, finished prints of your design, and the skills to continue exploring linocut printing and how to incorporate it into your classroom. Perfect for anyone eager to combine bold graphic design with the tactile joy of printmaking. It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.
