FEATURED MASTER CLASS
The Artistic Process
Zachary Proctor
Join Zachary Proctor as he shares his artistic journey, offering insights into his creative process. In this class, you'll explore advanced canvas preparation techniques beyond gesso, and learn how to transform chaos into order through his expert guidance. Zach will teach you how to create a background space that is ready for anything and everything. Come prepared with some photo references or ideas for the subject you want to paint.
Artist Statement: My intent as a painter is to arrest motion on canvas by artificial means, to capture life and hold it fixed. I am interested in making paintings of personal experiences, some as I remember and others as I prefer to remember them. Referencing family photo albums, contemporary imagery, and historical photographs, I aim to create a nostalgic world I once imagined, now conceivable and constructed with paint. As I reflect on memories, I hope to bring to life a personal mythology to better understand my reality.

Jewelry
Sam Steadman
This jewelry workshop will focus on making a sterling silver ring with a semi-precious stone set into a bezel. Attendees will learn basic bench fabrication skills, which include lapidary technique, forming, piercing, soldering, and finishing metal. This workshop is open to participants at all levels of experience. Signing up for jewelry means you will only be able to take 1 class as it is two sessions! Space is limited to 20 participants.
Samuel Steadman is primarily a sculptor and has been using jewelry as his main avenue of creation for the last 24 years. He is a teaching artist with unique aesthetics, but as he interacts with hundreds of students each year he is often forced to think outside of his own ideas to solve problems. The combination of seeing student’s designs and the need to figure out and practice various techniques to help those students accomplish their designs has led to a somewhat eclectic body of work. Samuel is the owner and operator of Bipolar Art and Jewelry. He has been teaching jewelry making for 22 years at Mountain View High school and is a recognized metal artist with the Utah County Art Board. He received his BA and MA in art education from Brigham Young University.
