Left brain, right brain, they are really the same. For my art, I explore how I can use natural science in art and art in science. To me, science adds line and shape to my life; science gives me purpose. Art gives me color! It brings vibrance to my life. Science and art go hand in hand to make a beautiful artwork of my life. And Iām not the only one. Many of our greatest scientists were also artists, and many of our greatest artists were also scientists. I want to express throughout my pieces on how art and science are really not that different at all, and the intricate beauty the two of them can create by working together. My future career will blend both with my dreams of becoming an Entomologist and an Artist especially in sculpture.
Her teacher Jody Benson states:
Kyri is an excellent student, she is one that tries to do her best in all she does. She is someone that her peers look up to, and trust.
Kyri strives on going the extra mile in life, whether it is through awards or personal gratification. She has won many awards in her art: 2 Award of Merit at Springville High School Art Show, David O Mckay Scholarship, Best of Show Junior Duck Stamp Contest, Best of Show PTA. Her desire to do her best makes teaching worthwhile. She is an example to everyone around you.

My portfolio mostly includes portraitures of characters set in a fantasy-esque universe. My work isn't heavily inspired by a particular artist, however I do aspire to achieve near to the same level of mastery as artists such as Ruan Jia and Ross Tran. Each piece created was made in the digital painting program Krita. I'm hoping in the future to become a professional artist, preferably working for videogame companies as either a concept or character artist. I would also like to explore freelance as a potential career path as well.
About this scholarship:
The Catherine Ford Art Scholarship was established to help art students in need as they attend college. Catherine Ford was a Utah Art Educator of the Year and was also a strong advocate for the arts in the state of Utah. She passed away in 2002 at the age of 48. The UAEA established this scholarship in her honor and to help students continue their studies within the arts at the college level.
